Inflation Tips

Field testing of Yokohama truck/bus tires has determined the following:

  • Steering ease, stability and overall vehicle handling is enhanced by setting the steer axle pressures up to an additional +10 psi over the minimum drive axle tire inflation and at or above the pressures required by the tire load on the steer tire.

  • Trailer tires should be set at pressures corresponding to actual tire loading. An additional 10 psi cold inflation is recommended to compensate for pressure loss between airing for all tire positions.

  • Under no circumstances should a Yokohama tire be inflated lower than the lowest pressure on the chart for a given tire size and ply rating.

  • On 6x4 tractors, field and laboratory testing has proven that irregular wear on drive-axle tires is minimized by maintaining the inflation pressures prescribed in the following tables.
